Pauline M. Dempsey, LCSW
Pauline has been providing psychotherapy services to adult individuals and couples since 1965 in a variety of settings, including mental health and substance abuse outpatient agencies in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. Pauline graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and a Master of Social Work (MSW), both from Widener Univesity in Chester, PA. Her LCSW is granted by the State of Delaware. Pauline takes an eclectic approach to psychotherapy with her clients, drawing from several theories and practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), Imago Relationship Therapy, Twelve-Step philosophies, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Eye Movement Integration Technique (TAT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Eriksonian Hypnotherapy, and the client's own spiritual practices. Her continuing education studies have been focused on brain-body connections, mindfulness, and positive psychology. Pauline likes to take a wholistic approach to therapy. "I enjoy the freedom of drawing from any theory or practice that will be most useful in helping my clients." Pauline's personal interests include singing as a member of CoroAllegro, a choral group that performs in the Wilmington and surrounding areas, swimming, and jewelry-making.
