Marilyn has a special interest in working with adults and adolescents affected by trauma, either in childhood or over the life span. She has a wealth of experience working with depression, anxiety, PTSD, addictions, the effect of substance abuse on the family, and grief and loss issues working with women, men, and older adolescents.
Marilyn sees each client as a unique individual with particular strengths. She works from a strengths-based perspective promoting positive change and self-awareness within the context of the therapeutic relationship.
Specialized treatment modalities include cognitive-behavioral therapy, EMDR, art therapy, Imago and Emotionally-Focused Therapy with couples, and a variety of experiential techniques. Therapy is geared toward increasing awareness and effecting lasting change. Therapy focuses not only on the cognitions, but also on the body-mind connection.
